PROJECT SCOPE

26 West Center is an exciting new opportunity for the State College of Florida (SCF) and surrounding community. Two years ago, it was announced that SCF had been selected by Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity to receive the $3.6 million Florida Job Growth Fund Grant. 26 West Center broadens the student experience and contributes to the economic growth of the community.

Originally, a campus library, the structure was in need of renovation. It offered good bones and ample space, making it an ideal candidate for a center dedicated to workforce development and educational opportunity. Through the collaboration of ideas from SCF faculty, staff and students, economic development leaders in Manatee and Sarasota Counties and local entrepreneurs, programming was refined. The ability to bring together the right partners to formulate the final plan allowed SCF to realize a vision for Manatee and Sarasota Counties. This is a unique collaboration that represents two counties and will create long-term benefits for students, faculty and employers.
