Project Description
LECOM Park Redevelopment
FEATURES
Size: 19,000 SQ.FT.
A design partnership that began in 1997, Fawley Bryant has worked with the Pittsburgh Pirates in various phases to transform their spring training and minor league facilities in the center of Bradenton, FL. The largest of the projects has been the redevelopment of LECOM Park (formerly McKechnie Field). “Fan-friendly” renovations included the addition of a 19,000 SQ.FT. elevated boardwalk encircling the outfield, a popular “Kona Bar”, food stations, concessions and restrooms. The boardwalk provides access to an additional 2,000 covered outfield bleacher seats and visibility of the batting tunnels, bullpens and agility fields. The improvements led to the 2013 “Best Ballpark Renovation,” by Baseball Digest and has held the “Best of the Ballparks” award amongst Florida Spring Training sites since 2016. Additional phases have included practice facilities, meeting spaces and housing at Pirate City along with a strength and conditioning building.
